Introducing the new Arie

There’s pleasure in finding a place and imagining yourself there. You save it, send it to someone you’d like to go with, and start looking forward to the afternoon you might spend together.
The new Arie is here, open to everyone as a public beta. We’ve rebuilt the experience to help you discover places that fit your taste and your trip, understand why they might suit you and keep the ones you want to come back to.
You can explore recommendations and save whatever catches your attention, then turn your discoveries into lists when you’re ready. Your own finds and recommendations from friends can live alongside them, with notes that preserve why you wanted to go.
Arie helps you find the possibilities. You decide how to put the trip together.
Find somewhere you want to be
You start with your destination, interests and trip details. These shape a selection you can explore through photos, a map and explanations of why each place was suggested.
If a gallery catches your eye, you can look closer, read about it and decide whether it deserves part of your afternoon. Save it for the trip, add a note or share it with someone who’d enjoy it too.
A place worth keeping might also come from a friend’s message or something you saved on Instagram. You can bring those finds into the same collection, keeping the addresses and your reasons for choosing them together.
The information behind a recommendation matters just as much as the interface.
I can look at a perfectly reasonable list of places and still have little desire to visit any of them. Everything matches my interests on paper, but I’m opening more tabs, checking photos and looking for a reason to choose.
Our team curates and edits a place database that brings together research, editorial content and practical details. AI helps match that knowledge with your preferences and the trip you’re taking.
I want the quality to show in the details. Something you read might make a place worth crossing town for. It might help you decide to skip it. Either way, you have a better basis for choosing how to spend your time.
Events and experiences are part of the selection too, with links to venues or booking partners where available.
And once you’ve found something worth keeping, you can return to it. You might visit next week, save it for another trip or recommend it to someone months later.
Conversations with people who used our first version helped us find this focus. We learned that we needed to make the path from a recommendation to a useful discovery much simpler. Many people wanted help finding places while keeping the creative part of planning for themselves. We rebuilt the experience around that freedom.
Getting to know your travel taste
We’re building an intelligent recommendation system specifically for travel. It’s the part of Arie we care most about getting right.
Your initial interests give it a starting point. The places you explore, save and like provide further signals that help shape what it suggests next, including when you’re exploring another destination.
But interpreting those choices well is difficult.
Opening a place might mean you’re interested, briefly curious or checking something for a friend. A passing idea shouldn’t become a permanent definition of your taste.
Travel makes this especially interesting because the same person can want very different things in different circumstances. You might love finding unfamiliar neighbourhood places at home and still want to spend your first afternoon in a new city at its most famous landmark.
Both choices can make sense. A useful recommendation needs to account for the person and the particular trip.
That’s the direction we’re working towards: a system that develops a more useful understanding of your preferences while leaving room for your plans, mood and circumstances to change. We have an early version of that working now, and plenty to learn about how people use it.
I want Arie to become something you trust when deciding where to spend your time. It should give you places you’re excited to consider, enough context to make your own call and a collection that stays useful afterwards.
Over time, we want agents to take on more of the repetitive work around a trip, giving you more time to enjoy discovering places and deciding what to do with them.
I’m proud of what my co-founder Aleksei Tur, our small team and I have made together. Now we want to see how it works on your trips.
Try Arie for your next destination, or explore somewhere close to home. Save what catches your attention and put the day together however you like.
Then tell us what you found: which place made you want to go, which suggestion felt completely off, or what you still needed to know before deciding. If you visit somewhere, we’d love to hear whether it matched what you expected. That feedback gives us something concrete to work on.
